A new but old England captain, a new Chelsea star and the renewal in Chelsea's title ambitions along with the same old Torres goal drought ( 50 million to waste anyone)........Lethario's Take.  In football, a two week International break has begun. A belated Happy Independence to Namibia who gained their Independence after 75 years of South African rule in 1990. Also a belated Happy Birthday to my friend Charles  the Butcher of Kuala Lumpur who shared the birthday (21 March) with Ronaldinho, Ronald Koeman and Lothar Matthäus.


Last weekend provided more drama than your average soap opera as well as more action than a typical Matt Damon action film.  With De Jong at his usual best with kung fu skills to make Jet Li green with envy, Alminia and Arsenal provided humour for the comedy lovers!! Rumour has it, Arsenal will no longer use "The
Gunner/Gooners" as their nickname but resort to more telling, Kings of Comedy. Wenger REALLY needs to do something to strengthen the squad during the summer. Chelsea have a celebrity of their own making headlines.

David "Side Show Bob" Luiz is fast becoming a cult hero at Pensioner's Bridge with his classy performances as well as his way-ward hair which reminds us of Bart Simpson's worst enemy!! The lad may have been signed to bolster Chelsea's defence but he is proving worth more as his goals scoring ( 2 in 5 games) during Fernando " Allergic -To-Scoring" Torres's 50 Million pound goal drought  which now stands at NO GOALS in seven appearances. have helped put Chelsea back in the title race ( well NOT really but that's what Chelsea fans want to believe).

Side Show Bob is a great player because the 23-year-old can tackle, is good in the air, quick and fleet of foot and he reads the game well. He can also step into midfield, as he is good on the ball and can carry it out of defence. He is also proving a fine reader of the game, anticipating his opponent's attacks and moving across to pinch the ball before it reaches its intended target becoming the Premier League's leading interceptor even though he only made his full debut in February. (21 interceptions, Mensah of Sunderland is second with 20)

Sir Alex began his 5 match ban by witnessing Dimitar Berbotov rescue and revive United's title chase at Old Trafford in game that looked destined for a draw after Johnny Evans had been red carded. Sir Alex praised the teams die-hard spirit and never say die attitude that has made Manchester United the famous Comeback Kings. United will be relieved to see the International break as they have an injury list growing faster than Pinocchio's nose as he defends Barry Bonds "vitamin" assisted performances.

 Elsewhere, Arsenal once again showed their lack of title chasing ambition by drawing at West Brom in a game where at one point they where staring down the barrel of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a team facing relegation fears..Kings of Comedy for sure!!!
